On September 19, Franks School of Education professor and HAC adjunct Justin Bock presented his presentation titled “Investment in Time, Money, and Character: The Modern Face of Youth Sports.”
A large number of students, faculty, and community members were in attendance. The video above is his complete talk with the question and answer discussion that followed. For a more detailed description of the talk, see below.
As youth sports have evolved in the past fifteen years into both a social and an economic force, what impacts does the current sports culture have on the athletes and their families? This symposium will explore the changes in youth sports, the prevalent coaching attitudes, and the effects on family, examining whether the current trends are positive for our society.
